Kveili is an iPhone app for knitters and crocheters that we’re building now. In short: we only ask for your email address, we use it to tell you about Kveili, we don’t use cookies or ad trackers, and you can leave at any time.
Who we are
kveili.com is run by Mahojo Johansson, a sole proprietorship in Norway (org. no. 938 392 080), “Kveili”, “we” or “us” below. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Questions or requests: hello@kveili.com.
What we collect
When you join the waitlist
- Your email address.
- When you signed up, and which version of the wording under the form you saw. That is our record that you asked to hear from us.
- How you found us: the campaign tags in the link you followed (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term), the website that sent you (the site only, such as instagram.com), the page you landed on, and whether you came through an app’s built-in browser such as TikTok’s or Instagram’s.
- The country you were in, as reported by our hosting provider’s network (never your exact location), and whether you signed up on an iPhone, an Android phone or a computer. This helps us decide where and on which phones to launch first.
If you answer our question
After you join, we ask what you would most want Kveili to help you with. Answering is optional. If you pick “Something else” and write a few words, we store those too, so please leave out personal details.
What we don’t collect
We don’t ask for your name and we don’t store your IP address. We don’t use advertising, analytics or social media trackers.
Visit counts
When someone opens the front page, we add one to a daily count for the campaign tag and referring website it was opened from. When someone presses “Join the waitlist”, we add one to a second count, and a third when a new address is stored. These are totals, with no identifiers, and can’t be linked to you. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we leave you out of these counts.
Cookies
kveili.com doesn’t set cookies or store anything else on your device, such as local or session storage. That’s why there is no cookie banner.
Why we use your data, and our legal basis
- Emails about Kveili (news about the beta, launch day and about one update a month until then): your consent (GDPR art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time.
- Your optional answer helps us decide what to build next: your consent.
- How you found us, your country and type of device show us which places bring people to Kveili and where to launch: our legitimate interest (art. 6(1)(f)). It is never used to profile you, and you can object at any time.
- Security: our hosting provider briefly processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the site and to block abuse, like automated fake signups. We don’t store it. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure service.
We never sell your data, share it for other companies’ marketing, or use it for automated decisions about you.
Who helps us
Cloudflare, Inc. hosts the website and the waitlist database and protects the site against attacks, under a data processing agreement. Before we send our first email, we’ll name the email service we use here.
Where your data is stored
The waitlist database is stored in the European Union. Cloudflare is a US company and may process data outside the EEA, for example in its global network or for support. Such transfers are covered by Cloudflare’s certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses in its data processing agreement.
How long we keep it
- Your waitlist entry is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- If Kveili doesn’t go ahead, we delete the whole list.
- If we haven’t emailed you for 24 months, we delete your entry rather than write to you out of the blue.
- If you unsubscribe, we keep only your email address on a do-not-email list, so we never write to you again.
- The daily visit counts contain no personal data and are kept as long as they are useful.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you and get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict how we use it, and to object to our use of it. You can withdraw your consent at any time. Emailhello@kveili.com from the address you signed up with, so we know it’s you. We reply within one month.
Every email we send will have an unsubscribe link. Until then, just write to us and we’ll take you off the list.
If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet (datatilsynet.no), or to the data protection authority where you live.
Do you have to give us your data?
No. Joining is voluntary, though we can’t add you without an email address. The question after you join is optional.
Children
The waitlist is for people aged 16 and over. If you think a child has signed up, tell us and we’ll delete the address.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS, the database can’t be reached from the internet directly, and we collect as little as we can in the first place.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your email address, we’ll tell you by email before it takes effect.
